I bought the Laurel Villa in 2011 thinking I could take my successful restaurant business and simply relocate it to the other side of town in a larger location with a few guest rooms. The name would stay the same, my loyal customers would be happy to follow me across town, I’d have more space to add new customers, AND, the added bonus of 10 guest rooms. How tough could it be?…Actually, real tough!

Selling rooms isn’t as easy as it seems, you have to book rooms, hire housekeepers, make breakfast, advertise and magage a staff of 25! It wasn’t long before I became a little overwhelmed with all these new endeavors. Also, knowing the Inn rooms needed a major face-lift and the finances it would take to make these changes added to the stress. All this, on top of running a busy restaurant.

After a long year of attempting to be a restaurant and Inn owner, I got a call from Gordon Ramsay’s team who said they wanted to help. I agreed to have Gordon come visit and the show was on. After a rough week we have recreated the River Rock Inn to be a comfortable stylish oasis in the heart of the Poconos. I am proud of what we have accomplished at the Inn and I am able to see forward to some of the things I always wanted to do in my life. It was Hotel Hell indeed, but it took Chef Ramsay to show me what I needed to do to get the Inn to the next level.
